To understand the power of this second New Moon of July, the ‘Black Moon’, let’s take a quick look back at Cancer season that ended July 22. Cancer is a ‘cardinal’ sign, meaning it ushers in a new season of the annual cycle: Summer. Without the acknowledgement of what we need as well as the actual nourishment we require, we cannot progress to the fun part of the cycle. What we just went through during Cancer season was in preparation for us to be able to enjoy this part of our journey. As a ‘fixed’ zodiac sign, Leo anchors the energy of the season it occurs in, which of course is Summer. Leo’s energy begins right after Cancer has asked us to slow down and ensure we are taking care of ourselves, the perfect setup for being able to relax and enjoy life as it’s meant to be lived. That doesn’t mean there isn’t work to be done here, though. While Leo Season is a celebration of life itself, there is also a reminder to be grateful for the opportunity to be alive at this time. Yes there is pain, and yes there is suffering, but even as we endure these things we still know deep down that life is worth living and celebrating. This is the time to connect with people and things that make your heart sing and fill you with joy, but there is another side to consider. In order to tap into the true essence of this Season, you need to be able to allow yourself to be who you truly are. No masks, no lies, no cover ups. Just you. Cancer Season asked you who you are: Leo Season asks how you will authentically express that version of yourself. This type of authentic self-expression is terrifying for some, as it forces us into a place of extreme vulnerability. For most of us, being vulnerable is difficult place to be and hard to navigate from. Experiencing the pure joy of self-acceptance takes some digging through the muck first. Releasing the need for validation from others is the place to start. One thing to keep in mind is that the only validation you truly need is your own. Once you are able to accept that, you will find the courage to express yourself in a completely authentic way that allows you to bypass needing prior approval from others. A simple cord-cutting and release exercise will help you to let go of the energetic ties that may be binding you to patterns of thinking, negativity, linking you to people that you no longer associate with, and so on.
