![]() The energy associated with a New Moon is one of completeness; the Sun and the Moon are in the same zodiac sign and provide a framework for creating a new beginning within the theme of the sign it occurs in. This might be too much energy, depending on the sign, but rest assured that this New Moon isn’t half as emotionally intense as some of her sisters. The theme of this New Moon in Gemini is communications based. Gathering information is what Gemini does best and in this case, the info being gathered relates to evaluating emotional intelligence (defined as “the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically”). This practice encourages understanding what emotions feel like within your own body, naming the emotions being felt, and then encouraging distance from them to find out the cause. For example, where do you feel anger? Is it a hot lump in your throat that prevents you from speaking? A tight band across your chest that makes it hard to breathe? Something else? Digging into how these emotions physically feel is necessary, since emotions change your vibrational energy and alter your capability for manifestation. Being angry prevents you from feeling gratitude, which is an essential part of most manifestation practices. Figuring out how these emotions feel in your body helps you define them and ultimately release them, bringing back stability and balance. Consider also how you emotionally react to other people. What behaviours exhibited by others cause you to react? What is being mirrored back to you, and what lesson can be found there? By understanding emotional reactions to both internal and external stimuli, we can broaden our self-awareness. When we can see emotions as simply another avenue of information and can remain detached, then we can return ourselves to a place of balance when we are emoting. Not to say that feeling our feelings is wrong; it’s more of a finding out the why of them so we can remain in balance while experiencing the emotion. What if you don’t know where you feel your emotions? Start by meditating on feelings of anger, sadness, joy, etc and discover where these feelings sit within you. Find a comfortable place where you won’t be disturbed. When you are ready, conjure up a time when you felt really angry. Allow the anger to fill you and pay attention to what it feels like. Where do you feel it? Once you know what it feels like, thank your anger for keeping you safe and move onto another emotion. You may not be able to process more than a couple at each session and that’s okay. The important thing is to pay attention and recognize that your emotions are giving you key information about yourself. Once you have that information, you can literally change your life, one emotion at a time.
