As the year 2018 comes to a close and we begin to come into a time of family, friends and fellowship, our beautiful planet is preparing us for an annual restart. Yes Magical Beings, we have made it to this wonderful, most joyous time of the year where our beautiful world is forever changing, physically and metaphorically transforming into what will be new life full of new intentions and potential. The mystery of the Winter Solstice is that of rebirth.
On Friday, December 21, 2018 we will be walking into the Winter Solstice. on this day, the earth will be tilted in its axis in such a way that the Northern Hemisphere will experience the shortest period of daylight and the longest night of the year. This Winter Solstice also happens in the Southern Hemisphere on June 21, while we are experience our Summer Solstice (Longest Day Of Summer).
The Winter Solstice is also known as the Hibernal Solstice, Midwinter, or Yule (Yuletide) which is a festival that was observed by the Historical Germanic people. Yule was known as a festival to celebrate the start of the new solar year. Coincidentally, the Cardinal sign, Capricorn, begins on December 21.
So what is the importance of the Winter Solstice? How can we as Light Workers, Divine Healers and Practioners of Magick learn from the Winter Solstice?
First, we must understand the nature of the Solstice. The word "Solstice" literally means "sun stands still". On December 21, our perception of the Sun from the Earth will be just that; still. Also, with this day signifying the start of Capricorn, which is a Cardinal Sign, we are learning that this the beginning of a rebirth. during the Winter season, the cold comes in makes all life stand still. it puts all of nature in a place where it must sit and observe, wait patiently for its time to reemerge. Winter time is not meant for socialization or travel. it is meant for preparation.
Capricorn is the last cardinal sign in the zodiac, marking the beginning of the end. This marks a period of patience and preparation. The Winter Solstice should be used as a period of introspection; a time to take inventory of one's self, rid yourself unhealthy and unnecessary traits, and open yourself to the newness of the new year.
So as we approach the Solar New Year, don't take on too much. If you're looking to do some self-love work on yourself, create a business plan, study up on spiritual matters, the Winter Solstice would be a great time to set those intentions. With introspection comes meditation. Find a warm, cozy area in your home where you can escape and meditate for a bit. even if you only have 5 minutes a day, try to be consist in your meditation during this time. if you have an alter, you can honor this Winter Solstice by including Winter Aesthetics unto your alter. Snowflakes, blue and White Candles, Pine Cones and Cinnamon Incense work perfectly. you dont have to spend a ton of money on alters supplies either. THE DOLLAR STORE IS YOUR FRIEND lol.
